Mactaggarts Place Archway

The concrete archway next to Dot Coffee Shop at Mactaggarts Place, Vernon Terrace, is under threat of demolition. In November 2016 the body corporate of Mactaggarts Place sought, and was granted, an Exemption Certificate by Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (DEHP), the State Government department charged with preserving the heritage of the state. This Exemption Certificate apparently permits the demolition of the archway, the repositioning of a part of it somewhere else in Mactaggarts Place, and the display of some interpretive material.
On behalf of TPA, I wrote to the relevant officer in the DEHP, Andrew Woodward, to express the concern of TPA about this situation and seeking some information about how this had arisen and why the conditions of the Exemption Certificate were so imprecise.
My letter is attached, as too is a letter sent to Councillor Vicki Howard from her colleague Councillor Simmonds, who holds the corresponding position in Council.
As at 29 April, the archway is still in place.
